My journey to becoming a psychotherapist began long before any schooling or formal training. From a very young age, my temperament was to be a quiet observer, taking note of the moods and emotions of those around me. When I attended Shippensburg University for my undergraduate degree, I chose Social Work as my focus as it felt like it fit well with my tendencies to focus on the "real stuff" of peoples' lives and look for ways to help.
I pursued further education in the Counseling Psychology field at Eastern University, where I received a Master of Arts degree in 2004. Since graduating, I have worked with children, teens and adults in community mental health and agency settings. I have been in private practice since 2017. I have experience working with others on a wide range of issues including PTSD, complex developmental trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, relationship struggles and life transitions. I have continued, throughout the years, to seek further education and training on treating Child Sexual Abuse survivors and utilizing modalities like Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). I also participate in regular supervision and consultation with other clinicians as a way to further hone and develop my skills. Additionally, I have provided training and presentations on topics such as Teen Depression, Trauma-Informed foster parenting, Mindfulness, Self-Compassion and Parenting Teens.
I came to Lancaster in 2010 by way of York, Shippensburg and Philadelphia. When I’m not practicing therapy, I enjoy reading, making pottery and nature walks with my husband and son.
